Selflessness and Gratitude

Today, I spent the day with my parents by catching a touching movie called A Simple Life based on a true story. The actor and the actress above are my mummy's favourite actors from Hong Kong.

The movie started off showing the main character, Roger and his maid, Ah Tao who had been his servant for four generations for sixty years. She always cooked and tidied up the house. She knew what exact food to serve him. She is very meticulous. She doted on him a lot. She put his interests first before hers.

One day, Roger came home, no one answered. His family resides in USA while he is in Hong Kong. Ah Tao had a stroke.

The roles both played were then reversed. He started to realise that she now needed his care. She was then moved to a nursing home to live and Roger would visit her.

As days passed with her health deteriorating, she continued touching people's life.

The moral I learnt - Never take things or people for granted. Cherish them and what they have done for you. Even if they are just maids, treasure them like one of your family members because you never know when they will fall sick or pass on.

She also possessed selflessness and gratitude to everyone who cared for her. (:
