N Level results are released

What a long yet WONDERFUL day! I had mixed feelings for my N Level results and my birthday on the same day. While having lunch with my family, I grew more anxious.

After lunch, i walked up the hilly path with KL. On reaching school, Mr LCH jokingly asked KL whether he brought a tissue packet in case someone breaks down. I laughed and said that i wouldn't cry. On the way i also met Jaslyn. Together we walked up the corridor to the school hall.

When i reached the hall, my nervousness increased. I began to swallow... and breathe... and fidget after sitting down. My hands became a little sweaty. Once the LCD projector showed the title "N Level Results for NA" after a briefing, i started to widen my eyes.

The screen showed that all NA students passed English which was a big relief. Next, it showed school and nation percentages of passes for each subject.

Then after that, the screen read "Top student in NA level". Jaslyn and i thought it would surely be Koh Hiong but Aaron Ong totally shocked us for being the top student. Aaron's EMBR3 was impressive - 7 points!

There were three other boys who got 10 points too. They were all from Aaron's class.

I applauded them for their good work. Congrats guys! :) Next, the title on the screen said "Special Mention". Although i knew it would be me, i tried not to expect it, afraid I got upset if it was not me.

After a few moments of silence, the name was released: "Isabelle Lim Yi Qing". I froze with my eyes fixed on my name in disbelief. My head was virtually spinning. I told myself "12 points?" and "My dream is fulfilled?". I then turned and looked at Ms BH and Jaslyn. Ms BH asked me to stand up and go to the front row for a photo-taking. I decided to run towards the front row still shaken and my eyes starting to tear. I held back my tears of joy when shaking hands proudly with my former and favourite teacher, Mrs Er. There i stood in front of the camera and audience and smiled.

I came back running to my seat position and asked Jaslyn what points i got. I was right, 12 points indeed. I needed someone to tell me so that i could believe what i saw. Lol.

After that, my excitement grew even more as I sat down behind the number 1 person in the queue to receive the result slip. When my turn came, I approached Mrs Er who smiled, then passed me several booklets and a handbook first with the result slip. I didn't realize my mum was standing beside me snapping away with her camera!

Once the results slip was in front of me, i looked first at my English grade. It stated "THREE" and i was so relieved. Ms BH congratulated me for scoring well for English. Next was Combined Humanities which showed "TWO"! I shed tears of joy telling myself that my goal was achieved.

I then showed my grades to my mum. I was excitingly signing the letters CH to her. She was so happy for me that she cried along with me. So touching...

KL approached me and seeing me in tears, asked "Why?". I replied "CH" as i passed the result slip to him. I was trying to hold back my tears. He looked at it and opened his mouth agape. He said "Wow! TWO!". I said "Yes, Two!". He patted me and congratulated me. Mum asked us to pose for a picture. Then KL looked at it again, this time with Mdm Nafisah peeking behind him. Jaslyn asked why i cried. As i was busy wiping away my tears, KL replied for me with enthusiasm. She then opened her mouth in awe. Mdm Nafisah showed me a thumb up for getting THREE for English and i smiled. Mum took a picture of my resource teachers and me. This time with drier eyes. Haha.

I then went to the back row. Dad gave me a bear hug. He is my biggest supporter and motivator. :D KL, Jaslyn, Colleen and i sat in a circle congratulating each other, talking about our results, discussing posting options, and more photo-taking followed. Mum told Ms BH that yesterday was also my birthday and she sweetly gave me a hug and a wish. Then i went around to congratulate my other classmates and thank my subject teachers.

As we were leaving the school, Dad announced that he would treat everybody to ice-cream and dinner. He invited KL to come along too. I enjoyed the rest of the afternoon with my family and best friend KL at ION. What a day we had!

My birthday wish has come true! No wonder i broke into tears. Lol. The lesson i learnt is that when you put effort and focus in your studies and stay determined and self-disciplined, you can achieve what you set out to do. Well done, Ferkel! *Patting myself. Most of all, i want to thank God for being my strength and for his grace and blessings.

Yesterday was one of the happiest days in my life!
