U P G R A D E

Since the arrival of Uncle Phillips, the uproarious laughter began. I have been laughing so much ever since my school holiday began. So it was a really awesome start! I was so stressed physically and mentally for the past school months. The hard work, time, blood, sweat and tears finally paid off upon receiving the feedback results of my assessment. I'm very satisfied with the results.

Yes, Uncle Phillip not only brought himself to Singapore but his great sense of humour. My mummy's also amazingly hilarious too! I think it's also my first time watching a man cooking up a dish of Fried Rice! So it's a new sight watching him making yummy Fried Rice. It's when I begin to think I should get a boyfriend who can cook!

Uncle Phillip also brought along photography equipments for me to play with. I've learnt lots from him ever since he gave me my first DSLR Nikon D90. So this year, I learnt about how the additional flash gives the photos a different feel and how using the red filter gives B/W photos richer tones. It's an amazing time with him. Yes, it sounds like I will be upgrading every 2 years' time. I'm excited to see how far I can go with my camera and the increasing number of tools. Prime lens, the additional flash, tripod, lens cleaner (I paid for the last 2 tools though) are the tools I've gained from him. In 2 years' time, I probably receive / buy a new lens (more professional lens). But I HAVE to make sure I know how to shoot correctly with the flash FIRST. Practice and the shooting results are what I can repay him with a grateful heart.

I also discovered that he is actually the one who spotted my talent - my eye, 4 years ago. I remembered how extremely excited I was when I learnt that he would pass down his DSLR Nikon D90 to me 2 years ago (I may remember wrongly). I experimented and kept shooting without even reading the manual (I hate reading manual). I didn't google much for tips though. I heard tips from word of mouth.

I'm really, really am very grateful to Uncle Phillip for giving me a golden opportunity to further explore my photography, starting with just a normal Nokia phone camera. Looking at my photography skills, I'm amazed at how much I've honed over the years. And how much I've grown, knowing what I want to be. Initially, I didn't have a certain future with regards to my career. I thought I could be an account assistant forever. However, I found out that I was struggling with Accounting. I didn't give the passion and attention it requires. I took a leap of faith(:

Alvan, thank you for giving me a touch of photography and a dream I still dream of. And to Uncle Phillip, for the camera tools and tips. I LOVE YOU BOTH! :D
